Motorola Unveils Motorola ET1 Enterprise Tablet

Motorola officially introduced its newest ET1 tablet to the enterprise market. The tablet was constructed to offer more security and sturdiness which is equipped a multi-user login options and enterprise applications for workforce and inventory management. According to Motorola Solutions, the tablet packed an enterprise-ready version of the Android 2.3 Gingerbread which is equipped with an optional barcode scanner and magnetic stripe reader, hot-swappable battery packs, and secure system software. Somehow, Motorola ET1 is the first tablet launched by Motorola Solutions targeting enterprise customers.
Motorola ET1 is packed a 1 GHz dual-core TI OMAP4 processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 8GB of internal storage, along with a 32GB microSD card slot, 4 GB of Flash, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and a replaceable battery (at 4620 mAh). It also features an 8 megapixel rear camera, a front-facing camera which capable for videoconferencing and 720p video. Moreover, there’s also a seven-inch, Gorilla Glass capacitive touchscreen with 1024 x 600 resolution – which is around 30 percent thicker than most consumer displays, and it is recessed to provide extra shock protection. The 1.4 pounds ET1 also expected to be able to handle liquid spills and temperature changes – between -4 and 158 degrees Fahrenheit.

Motorola notes that they hope to keep the ET1 under $1000 per unit for mass orders. The rather rugged-looking tablets are built to withstand daily workplace and warehouse use. For stores, the tablets is expected to help employees with product comparisons for customers and with locating inventory in a network of retail locations. It also allow employees to accept credit card payments anytime, anywhere, making it a sort of mobile cash register. The Motorola ET1 tablet is expected to start shipping by the end of 2011.
