Bigadgets: Samsung Transfix now Avaliable in Cricket Retail Stores

Samsung Transfix for Cricket

The Transfix might not be as exciting as the Nexus Prime, the first smartphone with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, but it looks like will bring some excitement for prepaid customers. Samsung Transfix (SCH-R730) unveiled for the first time last month, but Cricket took more than a month to introduce the Samsung Transfix at the CTIA 2011 show in San Diego on October 11. Samsung Transfix is pretty similar with Samsung Vitality from the feature section, but The Transfix comes with an additional full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
“We are very pleased to bring the Samsung Transfix to Cricket customers. The Transfix features an easy-to-use slide out keyboard that makes messaging a breeze. Combined with its affordable price we believe the Transfix will be attractive to our customers looking for an Android device,” said Matt Stoiber, vice president and general manager, devices for Cricket.
Last year, other prepaid carriers, like Boost Mobile and MetroPCS, has extended their game in terms of offering more smartphones without a contract – particularly of the Android variety.
Samsung Transfix runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and provides access to more than 250,000 apps via Android Market. The handset also equipped with a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive multi-touch display, a 800MHz Qualcomm processor, a mediocre 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, and a microSD card slot for memory expansion – with capability up to 32GB. Moreover, the Transfix is pre-loaded with popular Android apps, including Google’s Gmail, Google Talk, Google Search, Maps, YouTube, and Calendar.
Though the smartphone does not show on the carrier’s webstore yet, Samsung Transfix is now available for $180 in Cricket branded retail stores, dealers and Cricket’s website.
