Bigadgets: Sony cuts the starting price of Vaio SA to $1,000
Sony has slashed $250 from starting price of Vaio SA laptop from $1,250 to $1,000, while the lower-end SB series now starts at $780 – it had been going for $800 – after instant savings. But for the online customer who purchased both of these series but still don’t take any response yet, Sony said it’s up to retailers to set their own price protection policies. The Sony Vaio SA itself is pretty much similar like the SB-series, but it’s a bit thinner as its chassis measures only 0.95 inches (24mm). Both of this series feature the same highly resistant case built out of magnesium alloy as well as an advanced configuration that centers around Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors.
The Vaio SA series feature an Intel mobile CPUs which can be configured to sport either the Core i5-2430M or the Core i7-2640M CPUs. It also equipped with 4GB DDR3 RAM (expandable to 8GB), Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) technology, a pair of SSD or HDD drives providing up to 1TB of storage space, wireless broadband connectivity and a Blu-ray combo drive, while the AMD Radeon HD 6630M GPU with 1GB of dedicated video memory comes as standard. And Vaio SA also embedded with the optional sheet battery that, according to the manufacturer, double the battery life (performance of the Vaio SA depends upon usage).
