Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera with 360-Degree Shoots Capability
Bigadgets: Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera that can capture 360-degree panoramic photos
The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera may seem like a fun toy to play with, but it has a concept as a camera ball equipped with several camera sensors that can capture 360-degree panoramic photos. Just like the name, The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is throwable and can capture photos as it thrown and reaches its highest point, it can take 36 perfectly spaced photographs and then you are allows to combining them into a fully scrollable 360-degree panoramic image.
This camera ball equipped with 36units of 2MP cellphone camera modules and takes a full sphere of images right at the peak of flight. The ball is padded to protect the gadgets encased inside it when thrown. The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera also packed an accelerometer to calculates its movement. When it reaches the peak height when thrown, it automatically shoots a single stitched photo in 360 degree panorama. The image that captured then can be uploaded via a USB connection to a PC.
The real project name of this ball was “Throwable Camera Array for Capturing Spherical Panoramas” and authored by Jonas Pfeil from Technische Universitat in Berlin. The developers seems to show the Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera off Siggraph Asia 2011 in December, but now the Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is remains a concept.
